Early class day (9:00am) so we could make it to a tour with the Assistant Director James at the Coliseum Theatre. The upcoming opera, Benvenuto Cellini, was in technical rehearsals this week and we were able to come in during the lunch hour to see the large theatrical space and we even were able to go on the stage for a few minutes. It was a good opportunity to see how such a large production functions, especially as they are constantly transitioning between two operas that are performed there within the week. It was a short tour, but full of useful insight as to how their productions come together.
With Stratford-Upon-Avon tomorrow there were some random things I needed to get done before we leave tomorrow. I went grocery shopping to pick up some things to take along with me, and have some things for when we get back so I don’t have to immediately go shopping. I also had to make a trip to the laundromat, which is always the highlight of my week…
In the evening, Carson, Christian and I (I tagged along) went to Pleasance Theatre to see LAMDA’s production of Rabbit by Nina Raine. It was interesting to see a student production. It was good, a break from the norm, and reminded me of how high a caliber of theatre I am privileged to see in London.
Once I got home to the flat I packed for Stratford-Upon-Avon. I’m excited to go to Shakespeare’s hometown and take a break from the city. I know it will be a good rest from the marathon I feel like I’ve been running lately.
