Bank Holiday! Not going to lie to you, today was a pretty boring day. I finally got a day of rest and relaxation. However, it is more like I was able recoup to a point where I feel human again (cue Beauty and the Beast musical or bonus footage on the DVD). It was a much needed day!
I woke up at 9:00am and made pancakes (they don’t taste like home, however I bought the mix and haven’t gone shopping in a while). Once I finished I tried my hardest to begin to read Henry IV, part one, but I was still exhausted and went back to bed. I slept until 1:00pm. I was not the only one in my room that slept so late, although I was the last one up.
I didn’t want to do anything. Not doing anything became such a priority that I ate chicken lunchmeat tacos for dinner because I didn’t want to go grocery shopping. Odd, yes, however it wasn’t entirely bad (had I not had cayenne and garlic it would have been a different story I think).
In the evening I went with my class to the Donmar Theatre to see a new play titled Privacy. The production was good as a whole. The first act was really concise, direct, and involved the audience a great deal. Using my smart phone while watching a play or movie is usually a bad idea, not in this play, in the first act it was encouraged for us to use our smart phones. I even took a selfie! It was the second act I began to find a good many flaws. One, when the audience was instructed to shut off or silence their phones as they would no longer be used, we were then lost. The story took an unexpected turn, landing in a completely new story about Edward Snowden. I get how the invasion of privacy issue is directly connected to privacy, however I found in this play act one and act two told such different stories that it became muddled and hard to follow.
As the day came to a close I thought about what I would normally be doing on Memorial Day weekend. I missed my friends, and the barbecue with Mom and Dad. It’s a growing experience being so far away, in completely new surroundings and living arrangements.
