The last day of May 2014! How did that happen so fast? Time flies when you’re in London!
I slept in and skipped the full English breakfast. Once I woke up, got ready, and packed I made my way to McDonald’s picked up a bagel breakfast and sat on a bench by the river and enjoyed my final moments in Stratford-Upon-Avon. It was the only time during my stay where clouds didn’t block the surrounding area. It was a nice morning to sit by the swan fountain and watch the river.
The train ride back to Marylebone was uneventful. I tried to catch up on reading, but was unsuccessful, and even tried to blog and that proved to be even more unsuccessful. So I took the hint and glanced out into the english countryside.
I got back to the flat, ate dinner, and then got ready. I was off to the English National Opera’s production of Thebans at the Coliseum (where we had gone on a backstage tour). It wasn’t a horrible journey there and getting to know the theatre district has been a big relief.
I don’t think I’m an opera person. This is a bit saddening to admit, but I am just not moved in the same way as I am with other theatrical mediums. It was a great concept centered on Sophocles’ classic greek plays. I liked the interpretation of Antigone, but as a complete piece I never found myself emotionally engaged. Favorite part? The rock pillars of the set that light up from within, such a cool effect.
I finished my day with a late dinner, unpacking, and getting to bed. My throat is becoming sore, I hope the sleep will help. Please, no sickness during this trip, please…
